Best Small Business Ideas For 2013 and beyond.
Let’s take a second and talk about those today.
If you didn’t already know, I’m a small business coach.
I’ve been around the block a few times, so my opinions tend to hold a little weight.
If you’re looking to start a legitimate small business then you’ve definitely come to the right place.
If you like to read and want to jump straight into the small business ideas, then scroll down a bit more.
For those of you who’d like to watch a video instead, here’s one I made especially for you.
Best Small Business Ideas – My Top 4
Let’s get started shall we? Here’s a tip before we dive into the actual business ideas.
Every small business idea that I’m going to share with you today is going to be related to the internet.
There’s a good reason why though.
I don’t know if you’ve ever attempted to start your typical brick and mortar business, mom and pop corner store, or franchise.
But my family has done all of the above.
I’ve gotten the chance to see and experience 1st hand some of the pains involved with that.
- Building Permits
- City Inspections
- Hiring Workers
- Tens of Thousands of Dollars To Get Started
- Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars To Get Started (If we’re starting a franchise)
Once you’ve gone through all of those incredible pains and you feel that you’ve gotten most of the hard part out of the way, you’ve got another problem.
You’re in an incredible amount of debt!
How long is it actually going to take to turn a profit?
In business there is never any guarantee. Are you ready for all of that?
That’s where the internet comes in and is so useful.
You can build a 6-7 figure business for less money than it takes to pay your monthly cable bill.
That’s a hell of a lot better than a franchise don’t you think?
My Story Of Realization
I was driving home one night when I saw an automated flashing traffic alert.
“Drive Slow, Slippery When Wet.”
“Caution, Slow Down.”
Your typical warning labels. It was the next one that snapped my head back.
“Please Like Our Police Department On Facebook.”
“Please Join Our Police Department On Twitter.”
That’s when the light bulb went off, my moment of realization.
The internet is taking the world by storm.
It’s changed the way we send mail, the way we communicate, even the way we watch T.V.
Hell, even your local police departments were jumping on board.
It’s kind of like Microsoft or Apple all over again.
Everyone and their entire families wishes they would go back in time and invest in these companies when they were first starting up.
It’s the same with the Internet.
A few years from now, everyone is going to wish they had of jumped on the bandwagon.
Luckily, that won’t be you.
Best Small Business Idea #1 – Blogging
I’m a blogger. If you couldn’t tell already, this is where I blog.
There’s a reason I chose to include this as the #1 business idea.
Having a website/blog is the foundation of making money online with your small business.
I started this one for less than $25.
It’s so important because once you have a presence online, people can now find you all over the internet.
When you own a franchise or a mom and pop corner store, you limit your income to that one community.
Sure people come and go, and you can potentially get customers from other cities, but again your limited to those select few areas.
With the internet and blogging, your income is limitless.
People from all over the world, seemingly all at the same time can connect and buy from you.
A lot more than what you can fit into any McDonald’s.
You may be in Australia right now reading this, maybe even Egypt.
Small Business Idea #2 – Affiliate Marketing
So you’ve got your presence online with your blog.
You’ve got people finding your website all over the internet too.
How do we actually make money?
That’s where affiliate marketing comes into the picture.
My simple no B.S. straight to the point explanation is this:
Selling someone else’s stuff for a percentage of the sale.
You didn’t make it, you’re just selling it for them.
So they pay you for it.
Here’s an example on how it works.
Let’s say that you read a book that absolutely changed your life and you want to share it with the world.
The next step would be to go onto your blog and write all about it providing all types of value to whoever reads it.
Because we want to make money, we’re going to go to Amazon and find the book so that we can sell it for them.
We grab what’s called an affiliate link that Amazon is going to provide.
(Affiliate marketing…affiliate link…get it?)
We then go to our blog post and/or YouTube video and post the link.
Now when people are searching for the book guess who’s website comes up?
And when they click on your link to buy, you’ve now got money rolling in on auto-pilot.
How simple was that?
Sell something for someone and get paid for it.
Small Business Idea #3 – Network Marketing/MLM
Whoa! Hold on for one minute now.
Whenever I bring up these two phrases, there’s always so much negativity surrounding them.
“My auntie’s cousin’s daughter tried one of those a long time ago and never made any money.”
“Isn’t that one of those pyramid scheme thingies, where only people at the top make money?”
I wanted to dispel some of those myths.
I’ve found that the only people saying things like that are haters.
The same people who couldn’t make $1 online if it slapped them in the face.
They just didn’t know what they were doing, they weren’t taught how to market properly (like I’m showing you here) and were probably using outdated techniques from the 80’s.
I’ve made plenty of money with Network Marketing/MLM.
Question is, how is this “pyramid scheme” any different than your job?
No matter what company someone is working for whether that be Walmart or Microsoft, if you’re looking for a “pyramid” you’re going to find one.
You see at your job you have your CEO’s.
The guys at the top making more money in one day than most people make in a month…or a year for that matter.
You go on down this “pyramid” and then you’ve got your vice-presidents.
Go a little further down and you’ve got your managers.
Then all the way at the bottom you’ve got you and the janitors making $10-$15 an hour slaving away for what the CEO’s would call change.
Only difference between your job and Network Marketing/MLM is that you’ve got people like me, or people like my business partner Brad who’s making over 40k per month right now.
CEO type money not because we’ve spent 20 years climbing the corporate ladder to get where we’re at.
Not because we’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars and countless years in schooling to get the position.
But because we said FUCK THIS!
My family and I are going to be rich. We took the time to actually learn how the money is made and how to market effectively.
Not complain about why our lives are so miserable.
Now for some facts.
Network Marketing/MLM is one of the simplest and fastest ways to get your small business moving.
Life affiliate marketing once you find something that you believe in, you write about it and share it with the world.
Once what you shared gets found on the internet, people who connect with you will join/buy.
Now this is like affiliate marketing on steroids.
Once the people who join your team begin to produce results and make money, you not only get paid for what you do, but what your team members do as well.
You get a percentage of their sales!
It’s a win-win.
That’s why I love it so much.
